MSSD, MSSN, & MSSM martial arts tournaments & Kejohanan Sukan Tempur Kebangsaan
The MSSM Championship (Kejohanan Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia) stands as a premier school-level competition post athletes, composed of students who excel beyond school-level (MSSD) and state-level (MSSN) tournaments. Each year, only selected sports will be featured at the MSSM level, with schedules released in advance to streamline athlete selection across school, district, and state tiers.
To participate in the district(MSSD) & state level (MSSN) competition each year, students-teachers-coaches ought to pay close attention to the schedules that are released by the District School Sports Council (MSSD) in all districts and States School Sports Council (MSSN) in Malaysia.
Just recently in 2023, the minister of Sport, Hannah Yeoh announced that martial arts are reclassified in school as sports. With that, martial arts are at the same recognition as those from other sports. In 2024, YB Hannah Yeoh, officiated the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 National Combat Sports Championship in, UPM, Serdang, Selangor. This championship is an initiative by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) through the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN), specifically aimed at strengthening the development of combat sports, particularly at the grassroots level, through the organization of tournaments to showcase the potential of new national sports talents. A total of six (6) combat sports events are being contested: Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Silambam, Silat, Wushu, Boxing
